Graduation

Degree Requirements |  Commencement Ceremony  |  Multiple or Concurrent Degrees | 2008 Graduates

GraduationGetting ready to graduate?  Congratulations . . . you’re in the home stretch!  Here’s what needs to happen next:

1.  Apply for Graduation:

  • Complete a graduation application at least two terms prior to the term you plan to finish the requirements for your certificate or degree. Degrees/Certificates are not awarded to students unless they submit a graduation application.
  •  Once submitted, COCC’s Admissions & Records Office will evaluate your COCC transcript and any other college transcripts you have on file. When your evaluation is completed, it will be sent to you and your faculty advisor via email.

2.  Review Your Degree Evaluation!

  • Remember, it is the student’s responsibility to be informed about degree requirements and to select the appropriate classes as outlined in the Catalog. You should work closely with your faculty advisor to assure you are on track and have accurate information.

3.  Commencement Ceremony:

In order for your name to be included in the Commencement Program, your Graduation Application must be received by the Admissions and Records Office by May 15.

*Unless you have requested that we keep all your records confidential, your name will be printed in the
commencement program and in the local newspaper.

  •  A graduation/commencement is held once each year in June, on the Saturday following the end of spring term. All graduates who have completed their certificates or degrees in the academic year, beginning with summer term, may participate. In addition, students who are registered in spring or summer courses that will complete their required degree coursework may participate.
  • Check your COCC email! All students who have applied for a certificate or degree will be sent graduation/commencement details via COCC email in April. The email includes a "commencement participation” web form which must be submitted whether you plan to participate or not.
  • Students wishing to participate in the ceremony must attend the mandatory graduation rehearsal held Friday afternoon. Rehearsal reminders will be sent via email to all students who have indicated that they plan to participate.
  • Graduation announcements, caps, gowns and tassels may be ordered from the Bookstore beginning May 1. Students participating in the ceremony must pick up their gowns by the first week in June.
  • Commencement takes place outdoors in the Mazama field. Therefore, tickets are not required and you can invite all your friends and relatives to share in your well deserved academic achievement!
